Permits, Licences and Approvals

Wellington Park was established under its own Act, with a different set of rules to National Parks and reserves. To reduce impacts and protect the values of the Park, some activities require a permit, licence or other approval.

A permit or approval may be required to:

• Collect any material in the Park (including for research)
• Drone/RPA use including for commercial, scientific research or recreational purposes  
• 4WD, except along Jefferys Track
• Horse riding, except along Jefferys Track
• Camping, except in the Natural Zone
• Events/group activities that are advertised and open to the public

Licenses or approvals are also required to undertake the following:

• Any filming, including still photography, undertaken for financial consideration, either on consignment for another party, for promotion of a product or service or to generate content for a monetised social media channel
• Operate a commercial business in the Park, including tour operators visiting the Park 

Applications are subject to fees set out in the Regulations. For 2024-25, applications fees are as follows:

• Permits that do not require assessment under the management plan - fee $187
• Permits that require an assessment under the management plan, but do not require permits under the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993 - fee $374
• Permits that require assessment under the management plan and a permit under the Land Use Planning and Approvals Act 1993 - fee $935
