Wedding ceremonies

Wellington Park is a public space, and therefore simple, basic wedding ceremonies require no approval. 

• Businesses that you engage as part of your wedding who will be present in the Park (eg celebrants, commercial photographers) must hold a commercial operator licence to provide their services within Wellington Park.
• Huts or other areas of the Park are not available to be booked for exclusive use. Because the Park is a public space, you have no right to deny access to any part of the Park by other users. Please consider the potential for disruption if choosing to conduct your ceremony in Wellington Park.
• A permit is required to hold a reception in the Park if tables, marquees etc, are required to be brought in and erected. The conduct of receptions in the Park is generally discouraged. Please contact the Trust info@wellingtonpark.org.au.
• If you are planning to wed in Wellington Park, be sure to have a 'Plan B'. The Trust or the City of Hobart may close Pinnacle Rd and/or Wellington Park for management reasons.
• As there is no permit required, it is possible that multiple wedding parties may intend to use the same location on the same day and your plans may be disrupted. 
• Wedding bouquets and other ornamental vegetation must not be left in the Park. 
• It is not permitted to bring butterflies or birds into the Park or to release them within the Park.
• Wedding attendees are not to be provided with single-serve plastic items for use, and single-serve plastic items are not to be brought into or used in Wellington Park. These items include but are not limited to plastic containers, cups, plates, straws and cutlery.
