Commercial filming and photography

Approval is required for any commercial filming or photography undertaken within Wellington Park. Commercial filming is defined as any filming that is undertaken for a financial consideration, whether on consignment for another party, for promotion of a product/service, or to generate content for a monetised social media channel, and includes stills photography for advertising purposes. 

Approval is available for one-off commercial filming activity, or for longer-term activity requiring multiple filming sessions over time such as generating content for social media or compiling footage/images for future publication.

Applications for approval must be submitted no later than 14 business days prior to proposed filming. Please read the Commercial Filming Guidelines  before submitting your application. Fees apply.

Launching and landing RPA (drones) in Wellington Park is prohibited, regardless of size, under the Wellington Park Regulations 2019, unless authorised by a permit issued by the Trust. This includes use of drones for recreational, scientific and commercial purposes. Drone permits for commercial and non-commercial filming can be sought via the Apply Now button below.

News of the day (electronic and print) and current affairs are not considered to be commercial filming and do not require commercial filming approval.  However, if a drone is to be used as part of filming, a permit must be obtained from the Trust in advance.

News of the day media are encouraged to comply with the Trust’s commercial filming objective:

'To ensure commercial filming in Wellington Park assists, where possible, in promoting community awareness, understanding and support for natural, cultural and heritage conservation and management, and is carried out in a manner that does not compromise conservation and other management objectives.'
