Rough camping is allowed in the Natural Zone only (scroll down for map). There is no camping infrastructure in the Park. Camp fires are prohibited unless in designated fireplaces. Scout and SAMA huts have a designated fireplace.
Overnight camping in vehicles, including campervans, is not permitted within Wellington Park.
Under the Wellington Park Regulations 2019, a person must not camp in Wellington Park in association with horses or 4WDs unless a permit is obtained from the Trust.
Hang gliding and para gliding is allowed in the Natural and Recreation Zones, and the Pinnacle. Contact the Tasmanian Hang Gliding and Para Gliding Association for more information.
BASE jumping is an activity with a poor safety record that is not permitted in Australia under current Civil Aviation Safety Authority regulations. Accordingly, BASE jumping is not permitted in Wellington Park until such time as safety procedures and regulations for the activity are approved by CASA. The Trust only permits parachute activities in Wellington Park conducted by organisations that are members of the Australian Parachute Federation and abide by their rules and regulations.
Geocaching is not permitted in Wellington Park. Geocache websites are actively monitored and caches are removed by the Trust. In the past, caches placed without the permission of the Trust have led to vegetation damage, informal tracks through sensitive environments, and damage to heritage sites.
Off-road motorised recreational vehicles including trail bikes, quad bikes and ATVs are prohibited within Wellington Park and and are the subject of frequent surveillance activities.
